macOS Utilities
Menu bar apps that stay out of your way
Lightweight, native utilities built in Swift. No Electron, no subscriptions, no telemetry.
ActiveSpace
Shows your current Mission Control space number in the menu bar. Click to toggle between spaces, or use the popover to jump to any space.
Ballast
Keeps every track at the same comfortable loudness, and learns your library as you listen — driver-free, on-device, dynamics untouched. Includes a real-time music visualiser.
Browser Commander
Keyboard-driven browser navigation. Go back, go forward, and open a searchable link navigator — all without touching the mouse. Works with any browser.
Browser Notes
Attach notes to any web page in any browser. Notes appear automatically when you revisit a page. No extensions, no cloud, no JavaScript injection.
CalendarUpcoming
Monitors all system calendars for upcoming events. The menu bar icon pulses blue as events approach, amber when five minutes away, and red for the duration of an event. A popover shows time remaining.
ClipMan
Clipboard history manager with a browsable popover UI. Navigate and paste from history with keyboard shortcuts. Persists across sessions.
CopyLens
Hit a hotkey, draw a rectangle anywhere on screen, get its contents on your clipboard. Text inside becomes text; if there isn’t any, you get the cropped image.
HawkEye
Draw a rectangle over part of a screenshot and HawkEye magnifies it into a callout, joined to the source by a tapered pointer. Save the result as a flat PNG.
HyperCaps
Turn Caps Lock into a Hyper Key that sends all four modifiers at once. One key, unlimited conflict-free shortcuts. Shift+Caps Lock still toggles Caps Lock.
Lookout
Watches your GitHub for items needing your attention — mentions, review requests, assigned issues, and pull requests with failing CI. Quietly until something needs you, then pulses red.
MenuTidy
Collapses third-party menu bar icons behind a chevron. Visible and hidden zones that you define. Keep your menu bar organised.
MirrorGuard
Stop accidental display mirroring. Silently swallows the command-F1 shortcut so a stray keypress can’t flip your screen, while leaving normal brightness control untouched.
Nomen
Names your screenshots by what they show, a few seconds after you take them. The on-device Apple Intelligence model does the work, so nothing leaves your Mac.
QuitProtect
Prevent accidental command-Q quits. Double-press or hold to confirm. A single careless keypress will never close your work again.
RainbowApple
Overlays the classic 1977 six-colour rainbow Apple logo on top of your system Apple menu icon. A small touch of nostalgia.
ScreenLock
Start your screen saver with a single keypress. Default shortcut is Hyper+X — pairs perfectly with HyperCaps for instant screen locking.
ShortcutHUD
Press a global hotkey and a panel slides in showing every keyboard shortcut available in the frontmost app, plus the macOS system shortcuts. Searchable, multi-column, dismissable.
SpaceMan
Retired. User-driven workspace snapshots, one named window layout per Mission Control space. Superseded by RememberMyWindows — the page explains what you gain and what you lose.
WindowPin
Pin any window as a floating always-on-top overlay with live capture. Toggle with a hot-key. Overlay auto-hides when the source app comes to front.
